Camouflage Motorcycle Jacket

This is a great jacket which features a zippered closure, belted waist for that comfortable fit, quilted lining, and multiple zippered pockets. This also features zippered cuffs, and side laces for an adjustable fit. The inside pocket is great for your cell phone or you can store it in the button snap pocket in the front! The lightweight polyester construction is excellent for those “In Between” days when the temperature is not cool enough for the leathers but just a little too cool for no jacket at all. All hardware is black with the exception of the button snaps and zipper pulls which accent this very cool jacket! It’s $59.95 at Silvertech Sirplus

Trials and Tribulations

Sherco USA makes some of the meanest Trial bikes on the market today. Check out their latest…
2011 SHERCO TRIALS MODELS
EFFICIENCY AND BEAUTY COME TOGETHER IN THE 2011 SHERCO

The 2010 Sherco trials motorcycle was a total renovation, it was a completely new bike with new concepts and new ideas that were the beginning of a wide range of developmental opportunities. The new 2011 Sherco models are a clear example of this, in addition to several tweaks and a new beautiful appearance; they represent a major step forward in the continuing saga of the evolution of Sherco. Sherco has made another great leap forward with the 2011 bikes, building on the experience gained over the past several months in the most demanding competitions.

The new 2011 Sherco has a completely new engine which was redesigned from the engine cases out. The cooling system lines are integrated into the new cases, thereby eliminating the external lines, this leads to increased reliability and reduced maintenance. The new housings are aluminum pressure diecast and are machined in a single cycle. This insures maximum accuracy and perfect alignment for all of the attachment points. The new engine design incorporates a major change in the reed valve area, including a new orientation; the engine size has also been reduced. The clutch has a new master cylinder, a new hydraulic line and a new slave cylinder, which combined make the complete package smaller in size.

The fuel tank has been redesigned and it is manufactured using a heavier gauge aluminum alloy. The gas cap has been relocated and is now centrally located in the middle of the rear fender, providing much easier access. As was the case with the 2010 models, the new model utilizes a fuel pump to supply the gasoline to the carburetor. The new pump is a double internal circulation unit that ensures constant fuel flow in all circumstances. The 2.9 model is equipped with the Dell’orto VHST flat slide carburetor.

The air filter housing has been redesigned by adopting a new inlet pipe along with a new lid with a clip system that improves the closing and sealing of the filter. The changes have not affected the air filter access and maintenance but the improvements allow the filter to stay cleaner longer in optimal conditions. The engine receives more cool air and the filter material area is greater than on any other trials bike. The inlet nozzle has also received some minor tweaks in order to improve airflow to the carburetor.

The tubular frame dimensions have not changed, it has received some minor tweaks, and the front has new anchor points for the new panels. The frame now includes removable steering stops. The chassis and body have been given a new beautiful appearance, based on the brand’s corporate colors, blue and yellow with white on the frame.

Brimstone Cycles Quadracycle ~ The World’s First Hot Rod Quadracycle

We’ve had quite a few quads here on The Kneeslider, usually several steps out of the ordinary for one reason or another, but I think the Brimstone Quadracycle, a hot rod quad from Brimstone Cycles, takes it to the next level. You still straddle the seat and steer with handlebars, just like any other ATV, but after that, comparisons pretty much stop.
Joe Skonecki, CEO of Brimstone Cycles in Bowling Green, Ohio, figures motorcycle and ATV engines are OK, but, once you have 4 wheels, you might as well go all out. If your tastes are a little different, he’ll build you something with an aluminum Dart block with anywhere from 427 to 455 cubic inches and 300 to 750 horsepower, it can even be set up to run propane. A paddle shifter works the GM 700R4 4speed Transmission sending power through a Ford rear end. He uses your choice of carbon fiber, Kevlar, or aluminum for the hood and fenders and when you run through the spec sheet, he’ll actually give you your choice of almost anything throughout. Joe does say the optional front wing is mandatory for speeds over 125 mph.
The appearance is sort of hot rod from the cowl forward, with a high performance quad smoothly grafted on to the back. I think the words “hang on” should be stamped into the dash just above the gauges.
Joe points out that every part possible is made in the USA, too, just trying to keep some of the guys over here gainfully employed in the high speed and horsepower business, can’t argue with that.
Joe cites performance numbers of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, 0-120 in 6 seconds while still getting 15 to 30 miles per gallon. I’m not sure about how this is registered on the street but you can set it up with a sound system and mount a hitch for pulling a small boat.
No prices are quoted but, with all of the optional configurations possible, that might be difficult. Not for everyone but a pretty interesting build, for sure.

ROOKE CUSTOMS VETTEL15

In the US there are a few builders who aren’t in the mainstream public eye as much as they should be. One of them is California-based Jesse Rooke, who kicked off Rooke Customs in 2002. Rooke’s relatively low profile might be because he only does two commissioned builds a year; his bikes are all one-of-a-kind, so you can’t call him up and order a copy of a machine he’s already made. Despite this, his reputation is growing within the industry and he’s at the forefront of the new wave of US custom building. The Rooke Customs style is hard to pin down, and unusually eclectic thanks to Jesse’s background in AMA roadracing, motocross, auto racing and shifter karting. The bike shown here is the ‘Vettel15’, reflecting Rooke’s longstanding association with Red Bull Racing. Vettel15 was assembled during a Red Bull event at the Indy MotoGP last year, but has only just been publicized. Check the Rooke Customs website for more delicious eye candy, including his latest creation ‘Jaden’, a KTM-based cafe racer.
